The Anchorage Fire Department says it is postponing the closure of the Anchorage Wood Lot following a recent windstorm that downed trees and scattered other debris, leading to power outages.

The lot will remain open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. until Sunday, Sept. 18, according to AFD. Drop-off fees have not changed. The lot is located at 100th Avenue and C Street.

The fire department reminded Alaskans that loads of woody debris should be covered for safe transport. Municipal code includes rules for covering loads to prevent hazards for other drivers.
