A collision with a truck left a bicyclist in critical condition Friday night, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

Someone reported the crash on Debarr Road at 9:11 p.m., police said in a statement Saturday morning. A Dodge Dakota truck was heading westbound on Debarr “when it collided with the bicyclist that had entered the roadway near Hoyt Street,” the statement explained.

“The bicyclist did not appear to be wearing a helmet at the time of the collision,” according to police.

He suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where police say he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, police said.

“No citations have been issued at this time and the collision remains under investigation,” police wrote.
