Troopers: Driver, passenger killed in 3-vehicle collision in Wasilla
Alaska State Troopers have identified two people killed in a Wasilla collision Friday.
Troopers responded to the crash at the intersection of Knik Goose Bay Road and Compass Drive just before 3 p.m., trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters wrote in an online dispatch. One vehicle had crashed into the back of a Saturn SL sedan that was attempting to turn left. The impact forced the Saturn into oncoming traffic, where a Dodge truck crashed into it.
The Saturn’s driver, identified as 36-year-old Wasilla resident Laurie Carroll-Bakk, died at the scene, according to Peters, as did her passenger, 26-year-old Brooke Gilpin, of Douglas.
“Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision,” Peters wrote. “Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors.”
No one has been cited or charged in connection to the crash, Peters noted. She said the investigation is ongoing.
