For the second year in a row, an Anchorage woman is being recognized by a national magazine. Military Spouse magazine named Jenifer Burris “Alaska National Guard Spouse of the Year.”

Burris won the title last year as well, but this time, she’s also been named one of the top three National Guard spouses in the nation.

Burris and wives from Nebraska and Texas are competing for the top spot, but she said all military families deserve recognition.

“There are some extraordinary military spouses, not only in our community, but nationwide, and I think if we get to know them a little bit better, we ourselves will get more involved and the community will just foster relationships and just grow,” she said.

If she wins the top spot for the National Guard, Burris will go on to compete against the top spouses from the other five branches for the title “Military Spouse of the Year.”

You can vote for Burris on Feb. 4. To see her profile and vote, go to the competition’s website.
