One of Alaska’s most popular political bloggers is taking a job with Alaska’s junior U.S. senator as a senior adviser and speechwriter.

This weekend, Amanda Coyne announced her new role with Sen. Dan Sullivan’s office and the end of her Alaska politics blog.

“I had to think long and hard about where my talents would be best served,” Coyne said in her last blog entry. “I chose to work for the senator because of his intelligence, integrity and honesty. He has the potential and desire to be great for Alaska, and I think I can do at least a little to help him.”

Sullivan was sworn in Tuesday morning in Washington, D.C., a day that also marked the start of the new congressional session.

Coyne has been reporting in Alaska since 2002, according to her website. A co-founder of Alaska Dispatch, she started the political blog in 2013.
