The Anchorage Police Department has interviewed the man who shot and critically injured another man outside of a Holiday Gas Station on Lake Otis Parkway, near East 68th Avenue, but police have not pressed charges, the department said.

In an update from the department Tuesday morning, they said the investigation is ongoing.

“The victim and the shooter in this case did know each other,” APD spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said in an interview. “[They] had gotten into a verbal altercation in the parking lot prior to the shooting and so at this point we have not made any charges in this case. It’s still an ongoing investigation.”

Castro said charges in the case were still a possibility.

The man who was shot remains in critical condition.

The Anchorage Police Department says someone has been hospitalized and another person is in custody following a shooting Monday night.

The shooting occurred at the Holiday Gas Station near the intersection of E. 68th Avenue and Lake Otis Parkway, police said in a statement. It was reported just before 10:30 p.m., according to police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro.

“One victim has been transported to a local hospital in critical condition,” police wrote.

Castro said the victim and suspect, both males, appear to have known each other prior to the shooting.
