This week, I traveled to the Alaska Zoo to see the fifth installment of Zoo Lights.

It’s an event the whole family can enjoy, and it’s something that really brightens up our long, winter nights.

It also gives you a chance to see what the zoo animals are up to during the nighttime hours. Some of the more nocturnal animals, such as the tigers, are a lot more active at night.

Zoo Lights will be on every day through Jan. 4, running from 5-8 p.m. From Jan 4 until Jan. 31, the lights will be on Thursday through Sunday. And from Feb. 1 to March 8, they can still be seen from Thursday to Sunday, but with more daylight hours, the time will be shifted from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Prices for Zoo Lights are $5 per person with an Alaska Zoo pass and $7 if you don’t have a zoo pass. More information can be found on the zoo’s website.
