In fact, burn permits in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough are required beginning April 1.

In this web extra, Doug Albrecht with the Alaska Division of Forestry and Bill Gamble, director of the Mat-Su Department of Emergency Services talks about what homeowners can do to keep their homes and property safe.

The full Frontiers program, A New Chapter, airs Sunday, March 13 at 4:30 and 10:30 p.m. on KTVA Channel 11.
