American Ninja Warrior competitor succeeds at WEIO
The WEIO games wrapped up Saturday evening with the one-foot high kick, arm pull, ear weight and bench reach.
Unalakleet’s Nick Hanson is no stranger to these games. The WEIO veteran earned three medals coming into Saturday and added to that total during the bench reach.
Unlike most WEIO games, the bench reach has no specific cultural story or significance. The game is simply designed to build strength. Hanson’s first attempt was a good one, but after an unsuccessful second attempt, he had one more shot to improve his distance.
The third reach was a personal best of 48.25 inches.
Hanson is no stranger to the big stage. Earlier this year, he competed in the hit show, ‘American Ninja Warrior.’ He hopes to return to the show next year.
While on the show, Hanson earned himself a nickname — the eskimo ninja.
It was a successful end to the WEIO games for Hanson, who showed that with right mindset, nothing is out of reach.
