It could be “several weeks” before the Alaska Department of Fish and Game is able to finish repairs at the popular Reflections Lake Trail in the Palmer Hay Flats State Refuge, the agency said.

According to Fish and Game, during the Mother’s Day weekend a high tide breached a berm that supported the trail on the west end of the lake. Hikers can still go about halfway around the lake, but the agency said there is no way around the eroded area.

Fish and Game said they’ll repair it as soon as possible, but gave no specific timeline as to when it would be complete.

The roughly mile long trail is located on an island just off the Glenn Highway near the confluence of the Knik River and Matanuska River.
