MCGRATH – Iditarod veteran Hugh Neff, 47, is no stranger to rough conditions and treacherous terrain.

But Neff said his tenth Iditarod is one of the most difficult races he’s ever run. Resting in McGrath, the veteran pointed to extensive sled damage and said he had two goals for Tuesday’s runs.

“Stay alive and hold onto that sled,” Neff said.
