Alaska State Troopers say a 38-year-old man injured at Arctic Man was medevaced out of the Hoodoo Mountains Friday afternoon.

In an email, AST spokeswoman Megan Peters said Anchorage resident Ira Edwards was injured in a crash on the race course of the popular winter event. The injury was reported to trooper dispatch just before 1:15 p.m., Peters said, and Edwards was flown to Fairbanks aboard Helo-2 several hours later.

Video from the crash shows Edwards bouncing down the slope before coming to a rest with an injured leg.

Arctic Man is a joint ski and snowmachine race that drew more than 10,000 people to the mountains outside Paxson last year, according to the race’s website.
