Judging ‘Rotten Sneaker’ contest is a dirty job
Judging stinky shoes for the Odor Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest is a dirty job. But someone has to do it.
The contest is part of the annual Bear Paw Festival.
A gas detector and the human nose determines how stinky shoes are. However, stench it just part of the process. Judges look at appearance, signs of wear and if there are any holes.
Blake Dinkel from Eagle River took home the Rotten Sneaker Award. The 9-year-old said the secret to his stink was simple.
“I worked on the farm and with the chickens,” he said.
Dinkel won $200 and is headed to New York to compete in the national Rotten Sneaker contest.
