Two events came together to celebrate diversity in Mountain View.

Catholic Social Services celebrated World Refugee Day while Mountain View held their Street Fair, Saturday afternoon. Performers from the Somali and Congolese community were there.

There were also children’s activities and dozens of vendors. One organizer told KTVA she loves the Mountain View area because of its sense of community.

“Our main message is, ‘Just support mountain view,'” said entertainment coordinator, Jasmine Smith. “Sometimes you hear negative things, you only hear the bad parts. But, it is an amazing neighborhood. It’s got some great people in it that have got a great story and we just want to share that with all of Anchorage.”

The community organized the event, with help from the offices of Representative Geran Tarr and Catholic Social Services.
