Jumpstarting your career in small business in Alaska takes an entrepreneurial spirit.


“You really can’t discount the importance of small business here,” said Cari-Ann Carty with Alaska Process Industry Careers Consortium, saying 94 percent of employers they represent are small businesses.


John Clark started with Skinny Raven Sports more than 20 years ago. Clark began as a part-time employee with the then start-up and now works as the so-called “prime minister of purchasing.”


His advice?


“You always have to be ready to do hard work all the time,” Clark said, “but it’s kind of the hard work you’re passionate about doing; things you like to do.”
