Anchorage volunteers spruce up homes for those in need
A group of volunteers is helping spruce up the town one house at a time. The effort is part of NeighborWorks Alaska‘s Paint the Town event that provides free house painting for people in need.
The nonprofit recruits volunteers and sponsors to paint homes for people living with disabilities, single parents, seniors, military personnel and veterans, like 85-year-old Beverly Moore.
Moore said she hasn’t painted her house in decades and is grateful for the help.
“The poor soul is 41-years-old, it was manufactured in 1975, and it needed a little tender loving care, and I just wasn’t able to do it myself, so this is just a godsend,” Moore said. “I’m so excited.”
Paint the Town runs through Thursday, June 9.
