The Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility (AWWU) announced Tuesday afternoon that the intersection of Tudor Road and Old Seward Highway would reopen earlier than initially expected.

The intersection was scheduled to reopen Wednesday morning, but in a statement, AWWU said it would reopen Tuesday evening by 6 p.m.

The intersection was closed to allow crews to do a more extensive repair of a water main that was damaged in May. The initial repair work in May was a temporary fix while waiting for a replacement pipe, which took roughly a month to get to Anchorage, according to AWWU.
