Municipal Light and Power (ML&P) is making progress in their efforts to restore power to Downtown Anchorage businesses who lost power Tuesday morning. Shortly before 9 a.m. ML&P said only 22 commercial properties were still without power.

Around 8 a.m. the electric company sent out social media alerts that stated 70 business, in the area, were without power; including the LIO, Westmark Hotel, Captain Cook Hotel and the Performing Arts Center. ML&P spokesperson Julie Harris said those businesses had power restored, but crews were still working to restore power to the remaining businesses.

Harris said the cause of the outage is under investigation.
