Two people are in custody for robbing a midtown Anchorage bank, then attempting to elude law enforcement, according the Anchorage Police Department.

APD said shortly after 1:20 p.m. they received a report of a robbery at the Denali Federal Credit Union on the 3000 block of Minnesota Drive. An initial report to police claimed the suspect fled in a white sedan toward Spenard Road, but the vehicle was spotted by police on O’Malley Road, police said.

“Officers pinned the vehicle into a snowbank near O’Malley and Hillside Drive,” APD wrote. “One of the suspects was taken into custody at the scene while the other suspect fled on foot heading toward Main Tree Drive.”

APD arrested the second suspect shortly after 2 p.m., near Homestead Trail and East 99th Avenue.

No one was injured during the robbery, but police said one officer, who helped stop the car, was transported to a local hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.
