Minnesota Road reopened shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday, after the Anchorage Police Department shut down large areas of it for lousy road conditions and multiple vehicle accidents.

APD said the road has been sanded and all of the vehicles have been removed from the roadway. But just because problems on Minnesota Drive had been cleared up, police were still warning drivers of slick roads across Anchorage.

In a release, police said from 12 a.m. until about 3:45 p.m. officers responded to six injury collisions, 28 collisions without injury and 32 vehicles in distress. APD “estimated there have been dozens more wherein drivers called tow companies directly. ”

Police are reminding drivers to drive slowly, turn on their headlights, and to keep a safe distance from the cars in front.
