AFD responds to South Anchorage sushi restaurant fire
The building of a sushi restaurant, located in the middle of Anchorage’s bustling Dimond Boulevard, partially collapsed early Tuesday morning, according to Anchorage Fire Department assistant chief Alex Boyd.
Although the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, Boyd said 911 dispatch was called to Haru Sushi at 4:17 a.m. Less than a minute later, firefighting crews found the building under heavy fire, Boyd added. In total, 17 units responded.
Eventually, Boyd said, the building partially collapsed.
No one was inside at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
According to Boyd, the fire was under control in about an hour.
