No injuries were reported after the Anchorage Fire Department (AFD) responded to a structure fire near 500 East 5th Avenue Wednesday morning.


Crews received the call at 9:04 a.m. and were on scene by 9:07 a.m., according to AFD assistant fire chief Erich Scheunemann.


The fire was deemed under control at 9:27 a.m.


Scheunemann said the fire was located on the second story of Mad Myrna’s. It’s unknown if any occupants were inside at the time of the fire.


Fourteen units initially responded to the call. Multiple crews will remain on scene for a few hours, according to Scheunemann.


The cause is unknown.


AFD sent out an alert at 9:40 a.m. asking people in the area to be cautious of crews “working on salvage and overhaul.”
