Anchorage police do not suspect foul play in homeless camp death

Tuesday night, the Anchorage Police Department responded to a parking lot off in the area of 26th Avenue and Barrow Street to investigate a body found in a homeless camp.
APD spokeswoman said in an email that a female’s body had been found in the camp by her boyfriend. While she did not elaborate on the manner of her death, Oistad said police did not suspect foul play.
Police said there were no suspects at large.
The parking lot was blocked off while police conducted their investigation. The department’s crime scene investigation mobile lab was at the scene.
Oistad said the victim’s identity will be publicly released after her family has been notified of her death.
