Thanks to the public’s help, Anchorage Police have received the help needed to identify a woman they were trying to reunite with her family.

Police say on Thursday afternoon, just after 1:30, they responded to the 2600 block of East Northern Lights Boulevard where a woman was reported to be wandering traffic. They say officers were able to escort her out of the roadway but had trouble communicating with her.

After going through several resources, officers could not find someone who understood the language she was speaking, according to police.

APD sent a Nixle alert 3:08 p.m. Thursday, saying they have identified the woman, thanks to the public’s help.
