The death of a North Pole man found in Fairbanks Sunday is being investigated as a homicide, Alaska State Troopers say.

The body of 21-year-old Todd Nosal was found on the dike near the Tanana River, according to an online dispatch. Troopers reported finding Nosal after receiving word of a body in the area just before 1 p.m.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage will be conducting an autopsy on Nosal as part of the homicide investigation, according to AST spokeswoman Megan Peters.

Nosal’s next-of-kin has been notified.
