Kayaker overdue on trip along Chena, Tanana rivers
Alaska State Troopers are asking for information on a Fairbanks man last seen kayaking the Chena River last week who has since been reported overdue.
Troopers received word shortly before 10 a.m. Monday that 36-year-old Sean Murphy hadn’t returned from his trip. He departed Thursday from a Chena River access point at the end of Chena Small Tracts Road, but his ultimate destination and route weren’t known.
“[Murphy] is believed to have continued down the Tanana River,” troopers wrote. “He is aboard a red, single-seat kayak.”
Troopers say Murphy is white and stands 6-feet-1; he weighs about 200 pounds. He has short to medium-length hair, as well as some facial stubble.
Anyone who has seen Murphy or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call troopers at 907-451-5100.
