The Old Seward Highway was closed Saturday night south of Dowling Road in both directions by a car-motorcycle collision that injured two people.

Alaska road-conditions website 511.alaska.gov first mentioned the wreck at Old Seward near 69th Avenue shortly after 6 p.m.

Anchorage police Sgt. Dawn Neer, at the scene, said a motorcycle had been headed south on Old Seward at the time of the collision when a black convertible on Merlin Loop west of the highway tried to make a left turn north.

The motorcycle’s passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and its driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to Neer. Neither of the two people in the convertible were hurt.

The highway was likely to be closed for a few hours, Neer said.
