As someone who was born and raised in Southern California, people are often surprised that I've made my way to states that have snow! I spent the last five years before moving to Alaska in Iowa. I attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, and landed my first reporting job at the CBS affiliate in Des Moines in my senior year of college.

After I graduated, I worked for Sinclair Broadcast Group as their Iowa Statehouse and Political Reporter, covering the caucuses and the legislature. I never thought I'd move to Alaska, but when the opportunity came, I knew it was something I had to do. Journalism allows us to give a voice to the voiceless and highlight issues and ideas we'd otherwise never hear about.

I love how my job connects me to that and the people I've been able to meet along the way. I would love to hear from you -- if you have any suggestions of what to do in Alaska or a story idea, please don't hesitate to email me!
