Some of the amendments they passed include a 9 to 2 vote against raising the fares for People Mover.
The assembly voted 6 to 5 to add $600,000 for library services.
The assembly also approved removing bond debt refunding from the mayor's spending plan.
Another amendment that passed 6 to 5 was to restore funding for a fire inspector position slated to be laid off in 2010. According to Anchorage Fire Chief Mark Hall, this position will help the fire department inspect more buildings.
However, an amendment failed with a vote of 5 to 6 to restore funding for a vacant fire investigator position with the Anchorage Fire Department.
Another amendment that was shot down was $25,000 grant funding for a senior center.
After assembly members heard all the amendments, they voted on "clumping" the ones that passed and because they did not vote on the budget, Nov. 17, Chair Debbie Ossiander called for a special meeting for public hearing on the amended budget, Monday, Nov. 30th.
The assembly is now scheduled to vote on the budget Tuesday, Dec. 8th.
