Stephen Gingrich, 58, disappeared in early November
ANCHORAGE – Friends of a missing Eagle River resident are organizing a search party for Stephen Gingrich, 58, this Saturday at Eklutna Lake.
Anchorage police were alerted to Gingrich’s disappearance Nov. 16., when a concerned neighbor told them he hadn’t been seen or heard from in about two weeks. Police asked for public assistance locating Gingrich, who was described as possibly “mentally vulnerable.” No signs of his whereabouts were found at his home on Hiland Road, and police also searched his cabin near the base of Harp Mountain in Chugach State Park.
A Facebook group dedicated to the search for Gingrich — “Stephen Gingrich Missing” — has more than 200 members, who use the page to post fliers, information and other resources.
This Saturday, the search continues at 10 a.m. at Eklutna Lake, where volunteers will comb the trails and park area around the lake.
