Road to Warped adds new act to Anchorage lineup

By KTVA CBS 11 News 10:48 AM April 14, 2014

The touring festival that helped launch artists like Katy Perry, Kid Rock and Eminem is preparing to make its way to Anchorage this summer.

The Road to Warped Tour is set to come to Alaska June 11, when six national acts and a handful of local performers will take the stage from 2-11 p.m. The show is a condensed version of the popular Warped Tour and will take place behind the Northway Mall, said concert organizer Chris Cardenas.

“We created our own venue, basically,” he said.

Besides the original lineup — which includes 3Oh!3, The Devil Wears Prada, Yellowcard, Less Than Jake, All Time Low and Falling In Reverse — another national act is set to take the stage. Cardenas said American Pie actor and acoustic musician Thomas Nicholas will also perform June 11.

The entire tour is a launching pad for up-and-coming acts, the show’s organizer said, and will hopefully open the door for other big-name musical events to come north to Alaska.

“It’s a big step,” Cardenas said.
