ANCHORAGE – A major national outdoor clothing and equipment retailer is preparing to set up shop in the Golden Heart City next spring.
REI announced the opening in a Tuesday release: The 30,000-square-foot shop at the intersection of College Avenue and Old Steese Highway will be the retailer’s second Alaska location. The company said it plans to hire about 50 new associates.
“Whether hiking, skiing or practicing yoga, Alaskans are some of the most active people in the country,” said regional retail director Kevin Golic in the release. “REI is honored to join the Fairbanks community and help outfit them for their adventurous lifestyles.”
