Students design dresses out of recycled paper for charity
ANCHORAGE – Local high school students are taking up a fashion challenge for charity.
Called “pupil+paper,” students design a dress out of recycled paper. Hosted by kpb architects, the event is a fundraiser for Bean’s Cafe and The Children’s Lunchbox, but students can also win scholarships. Aisatou Sannoh and Lizzy Hinshaw are two students working on designs.
“It’s kind of based on a swan and there’s a lot of really harsh lines and a lot of triangles and really geometric shapes and there’s a long train that comes out and it should be, it should be good,” Hinshaw said.
The dresses will be on display at the Anchorage Museum Saturday during a benefit for Bean’s Cafe from 6 to 10 p.m. There will also be a silent auction that features metal lunch boxes embellished by Alaska artists. A panel of judges will pick the top dresses and the public is invited to vote on the “People’s Choice” award.
