Police seek South Anchorage assault suspect

By KTVA CBS 11 News 7:52 PM June 13, 2014
ANCHORAGE –

Anchorage police are investigating the attempted assault of a teenage girl in a Raspberry Road neighborhood Friday.

According to an afternoon statement from the Anchorage Police Department, dispatchers received a call from a 15-year-old girl who said she was approached by an unknown man while she was standing on her porch on the 6000 block of Joseph Street. She said the man held a knife to her throat and tried to cut off her clothing, police said, and she said he knew her name and other personal information.

The girl told police her attacker fled toward Raspberry Road after he was startled by the sound of a closing car door, according to APD.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build and dreadlocks with black rubber bands. He is possibly in his 20s, police said, and was last seen wearing a dark-colored hoodie and dark, baggy blue jeans.

APD says anyone with information about the incident or suspect should call police dispatch at 786-8900 or report it anonymously to Anchorage Crime Stoppers.
