Police arrest third suspect in Mountain View shooting case

By Hope Miller 9:23 PM April 3, 2014
ANCHORAGE –

Anchorage police arrested and charged a third suspect Thursday in connection with a fatal Mountain View shooting.

Precious Alex, 15, was killed after shots were fired through her window of an apartment on the 600 block of North Flower Street around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Police charged 21-year-old Karlie West with one count of second-degree murder and one count of second-degree assault, according to statement from police.

West was arrested and taken into custody Thursday evening without incident, police said.

Jamal Townsend, 24, and Lamar Burney, 28, are also facing charges of assault and murder.

According to court documents, West was allegedly driving a Jeep Cherokee with Townsend in the passenger seat and Burney in the backseat that police saw speeding away from the apartment where Precious was shot.

Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and Townsend and Burney were taken into custody. Townsend had an outstanding warrant and Burney was brought in for a probation violation. During a protective sweep of the Jeep, officers found a “semi-automatic weapon” under the driver’s seat, court documents say.
