Woman killed in Tudor Road car crash identified

By KTVA CBS 11 News 4:00 PM February 15, 2017

Last updated at 4:08 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15

A woman was killed in a late-Thursday morning car crash on Tudor Road, according to the Anchorage Police Department. She has been identified as 74-year-old Lynn E. Lewis, of Anchorage.

Police said they were called to East Tudor Road and Shelikof Street at 11:18 a.m. In a release the agency wrote, “Initial indications are that a small Honda traveling westbound on Tudor crossed over the center line into the path of an Audi traveling eastbound on Tudor. The Audi tried to avoid the collision but struck the Honda.”

Police said Lewis was the driver of the Honda, and that officers attempted to save Lewis’ life at the scene before transporting her to the hospital, where she was declared deceased.

“The cause of Lewis’ death will not be known until the autopsy report has been completed,” police said in a statement.

The Audi driver was also taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. There were no other people in either vehicle.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Eastbound traffic on Tudor Road, between MacInnes Street and the New Seward Highway, was shut down temporarily as officers investigated the scene. The area was later reopened to traffic.
