One dead, two injured in South Anchorage vehicle rollover

By KTVA CBS 11 News 5:49 AM February 20, 2014

O'Malley Road was temporarily closed westbound between Lake Otis Parkway and New Seward Highway while police investigated the crash.

Update: In a written statement, Anchorage police said a 17-year-old male died in the crash, and an 18-year-old male and 16-year-old female were injured. Both males were ejected in the rollover, police said; the surviving male passenger is in critical condition at a local hospital, while the female is stable.

Police have not yet released the teenagers’ names.

ANCHORAGE – A single-car crash near the intersection of Commodore Drive and O’Malley Road killed one person shortly before 3:30 a.m. Thursday, police said.

A representative for the Anchorage Police Department said three people were in the vehicle when it went off the road and rolled down an embankment, crashing through the fence of a nearby residence and coming to rest in the yard.

Police said they’re still investigating what caused the crash, including factors such as snow, speed and alcohol.

This is a developing story.
