There are reportedly 33 percent more projects in 2010 verses 2009.
One of the larger projects, reconstructing the Lake Otis and Tudor intersection, finished two weeks ahead of schedule, and is ready for use.
DOT Spokesperson Rick Feller says another major project soon beginning is repaving the Glenn Highway from near Eklutna to the Parks Highway.
The recent Alaskan construction spike, Feller says, is partially due to an influx of federal dollars the state received earlier this year.
"Stimulus is a big part of it," Feller says. "We are seeing an increase in state funded projects. Of course the stimulus is providing a big shot in the arm for road projects and employment."
Starting July 30, 36th Ave. at Centerpoint Drive, as well as the Dimond Blvd./Minnesota Drive intersection will be closed.
Weather plays a distinct role in setting project schedules and completion dates.
