According to officers, employees of the Providence Extended Care facility on the 4900 block of Eagle Street in Midtown Anchorage called police at 5 a.m. Saturday after a young woman broke into the facility through a locked door.
The employees told police she was trying to escape from 20-year-old Andrew Amaktoolik, after he sexually assaulted her.
The employees also said Amaktoolik continued trying to assault the woman, even in front of the employees, and only stopped when they warned him that they had called police.
Amaktoolik then fled on foot to some nearby woods, where police later found him passed out and arrested him.
Amaktoolik's bail was set for $50,000.
The woman was treated for her injuries at a local hospital, and then was taken to the Anchorage Sexual Assault Center for further testing, which police say is routine in these kinds of cases.
