Nordstrom Rack plans Anchorage location

Nordstrom Rack coming to Mall at Sears in 2015

ANCHORAGE – A discount retail division of Nordstrom, Inc. is scheduled to open its doors in Anchorage in fall 2015.

The company announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at the Mall at Sears in a written release early Wednesday morning. The 35,000-square-foot space — the first Rack location in Alaska — will be developed by Seritage Realty Trust, a division of Sears Holdings Corporation.

Nordstrom Rack carries items from the Nordstrom department store at prices 30 to 70 percent off.

Trust executives said the Rack location will play an important role in the mall’s redevelopment.

“They say that 70 percent of the Nordstrom shoppers are going to shop at the Rack as well. On top of that, it’s just a great place for anybody who is fashion-oriented to look for bargains, look for great clothes,” said Marketing Director Linda Boggs.

Sears will maintain its presence in the mall, Seritage executives said, but the store will be “redesigned.”

Nordstrom Rack isn’t the only new business moving into the Mall at Sears.

BurgerFI is also setting up shop.

The gourmet burger chain is hoping to be in business by the end of the year.
