High winds, at speeds up to 95 miles per hour, shut down the Port of Valdez where oil is unloaded onto tankers.

The winds significantly calmed down Sunday but gusts hovered at the 65 miles per hour mark and expected to increase another 15 miles per hour by later Sunday evening.

The oil tankers are waiting in a safe harbor while Alyseka Pipeline officials say the oil from the pipeline is being stored temporarily inside on-land tanks.
