In an effort to go completely paperless, Alaska lawmakers could be getting Apple iPads. In today's legislative council meeting, legislators were given a chance to ask questions and address concerns about the proposal.
The idea is to give legislators an opportunity to go completely paperless and access files and other state media on the go.
“We've had some feedback from offices here in Alaska who have been using the iPads for the last several months. It's all been good, so with that I would make the proposal that every office has an opportunity to have an iPad,” said information services manager Curtis Clothier.
The proposal calls for 60 iPads, including wireless keyboards, camera accessories and other accessories, which is not to exceed a total of $73,000.
The state currently own 22 iPads, but will need to buy 38 more if the plan goes through.

Here's a plan. If they want to go paperless, let them buy their own ipads. Kind of like buying your own school supplies.

I agree, let them buy their own ipads. And if they are indeed so great, why do they need the additional wireless keyboards, cameras and other accssories? What about those that already own laptops, which have keyboards and most likely cameras? Surely there's plenty of other things more beneficial for the $73,000.
