Alaska Governor: Feds’ Plan Locks Oil, Gas in Arctic and OCSGov. Sean Parnell talked about natural resource wealth in his keynote speech before the annual Alaska Oil and Gas Congress.
Before he announced the 2011 Permanent Fund Dividend, Alaska Governor Sean Parnell talked about natural resource wealth in his keynote speech before the annual Alaska Oil and Gas Congress.
The congress brought government officials and industry executives from as far away as Australia. The governor continued his assault on federal government policies that he says are designed to lock oil and gas in the Arctic and in the Outer Continental Shelf. "A little delay here, a little moratorium there, a little slow-down of permitting, tax increases on an industry that can pull us out of the economic doldrums. This is something we must change. Our economy, our people cannot afford these political games," said Parnell. Early Wednesday morning, the governor will testify by videoconference before the U.S. House Resources Committee, which is holding a hearing on the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. |
