Warm Temperatures Hit AnchorageMany taking advantage of warmth to get outANCHORAGE - Rain and temperatures in the 40s have left a shiny sheen to the snow. The weather also has served as an inspiration for people like Patrese Taylor to get out. "It was getting so cold, I started being homebound," she said during a quick break from ice skating. She and her family rented skates for the week. With the midday sun glinting off the pond, several families moved around the ice together. Taylor calls it "Norman Rockwell heaven." Downtown, the ice sculptures outside the Center for Performing Arts were melting. One woman taking photos said, "They're not as detailed as I've seen them." "They're holding up, but they're melting," said Scott Kraft, who was taking his grandkids around downtown. He said taking them out was more fun when it's not freezing. But are these mid winter warm-ups unusual? They're actually pretty common, especially for January and December. Dave Snider with the National Weather Service said, "If you look at averages over all the Decembers we've recorded here in Anchorage, there's usually a warming trend in there. It could last for a couple of days... sometimes maybe a bit longer." The record warm temperature for December was set in 1940 when it hit 53 degrees, six degrees above this weekend's 47 degrees. |

Hey Pete? You might want to let the polar bears know it's a hoax, as they are wondering where their ice is going. (Funny how the most outspoken are usually the worst informed)

Let's just enjoy the weather while we have it.

this is normal in some places here in AK, where it warms up to the 40's or 50 degrees in the winter. when the wind shifts and blows from the other direction, it's cold again until spring break up

If the earth were in a warming phase, it would not be man-made. Climate has always changed. The earth goes though ice-ages on a regular 144,000-year cycle, and we are overdue for a new ice-age. The climate of all the planets of the solar system change in sych. If the climate is warming on earth the climate warming on Mars. Sunspot activity is the cause. CO2 is an insignificant greenhouse gas. Water vapor is by far the most significant. The reason for the global-warming hoax is to give the NWOers an excuse for a global tax, as the thin end of the wedge for global government.

Nice try Chris. This has ZERO to do with global warming, though I do agree it is real. Micro events like a local mid-winter thaw in no way indicate a major shift in climate.

Global warming is real and we are seeing it with our own eyes.
