Traveling Hairstylist Cuts For A CauseA Kansas salon owner, Patrick Lomantini is working to give 50 haircuts in 50 states, all within 50 days. He's on a mission to break a world record and raise money for a good cause, and now hairstylist Patrick Lomantini is bringing his scissors to Anchorage. A Kansas salon owner, Lomantini is working to give 50 haircuts in 50 states, all within 50 days. "I went through the Dakotas, down through Wyoming, Montana, Denver, then I flew to Hawaii and I was in Hawaii yesterday," Lomantini said Thursday. "I got here early this morning at 5 and started cutting hair at 8, and I'll be off to Seattle tonight." His trip is more than just a tour: All proceeds from the haircuts are donated to local animal shelters to battle animal homelessness across the country. "I just stumbled across this amazing idea to do hair for free and raise money for the shelters," said Lomantini, who has so far raised more than $40,000 for shelters nationwide. "It's an amazing combination that has really kind of taken off and has a life of it's own right now." While there's no charge for the cuts, Lomantini said donations of all sizes are already starting to add up. "A little goes a long way, whether it's $1,000 or $500," Lomantini said. "That's a lot of cat litter, that's a lot of puppy chow, that's a spay or neuter, because a lot of these shelters I've run across are 100 percent financed by donations, and I'm glad to be a part of it." |
