Every Thursday KTVA CBS 11 heads down to Anchorage Animal Control to meet our Pet of the Week.

Meet Champ.

Shelter gave Champ his name for his winning personality and he also holds the unofficial Purr-Meister Award.

If you’re curious about his unusual “manscaping”, this furry guy came to the shelter with a seriously matted mane that required some cleaning up. So until his grey coat grows back, Champ will be sporting a cute lion cut.

So which takes top honors: that cute face or that unmistakable purr?

“Oh boy...cuteness factor or his purr box...Wow. That's a tough call!” laughed Brooke Taylor of Anchorage Animal Care & Control. “I have to say, when you start rubbing on a cat and that purr comes out as quickly as it does on him…that catches a lot of people.”
