ANCHORAGE - There was an armed robbery Wednesday morning at the Subway sandwich shop on Old Seward Highway near Dowling.

Anchorage police said three employees were present but no customers were in the store at 8:30, when a man entered with a gun, demanding cash.

The cashier turned over an unknown amount of money, as requested, and the robber fled west on foot.

"He was described as a Hispanic male, about 5 foot 6, 185 pounds,” said APD spokeswoman Anita Shell. “He was wearing a black beanie and also had a hoodie over his head, and he had a black T-shirt pulled up over his face. They say he was about in his mid-20s."

Shell said the employees think he’s Hispanic because of his accent. Police are asking for the public's help in catching the armed robber.

If you have information about the crime, please call APD at 786-8900 or Crimestoppers at 561-STOP.
