State Extends Studded Tire Deadline

The State of Alaska has extended the use of studded tires from April 15th to May 1st

The state has given drivers more time to use their winter tires. The Department of Public Safety has issued an emergency order allowing all most everyone in the state to continue driving on studded tires until May 1st. The usual deadline is April 15th.
Extended winter conditions mean driver north of 60 degrees latitude - basically everyone north of Juneau don't have to take their studs off for another three weeks.
