Spring Forward Safely by Changing Alarm BatteriesThe Consumer product safety commission urges everyone to spring forward safely by changing the batteries in their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.Tonight at 2 am, clocks are springing forward, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission would like to remind you that this is the perfect time to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. The CPSP says between 2005 and 2007, there were nearly 400,000 fires, 2,500 deaths, over 12,000 injuries, and over $6 billion worth of property loss due to residential fires. Carbon monoxide poisoning resulted in 184 deaths between 2004 and 2007. Officials urge you to change the batteries in your detectors now and test them monthly. It just might save your life. |
