Alaska’s redistricting trial came to a close today in Fairbanks.

The trial began last week over challenges to the Alaska Redistricting Board’s plan for the redrawing of the state’s legislative election districts, which were determined by the results of the 2010 census.

The legislative map is being contested by two residents of the Fairbanks North Star Borough.

A decision by Judge Michael McConahy should be announced in early February.

Why does it take until February for the a decision to be released when the trial ended today?
